The Rabbit Project/Proyecto: Conejo is a 6week choreographic research project that David Zambrano directs with the participation of an international group of 17 dancers from 11 different countries. iJuly 14th until August 23rd 2003 in Amsterdamj

Working eight hours a day from Monday through Friday, and opening the doors to the public every two weeks with an informal showing of the process. For this research David Zambrano has asked to the participants to start from zero, like if they have never danced/moved before. Then David Zambrano will continue with his choreographic quest which he started three years ago and he has not had any time yet to deeply explore it because of his intensive touring teaching and performing.

In his quest, David Zambrano has been very interested in creating and developing dynamics of complex systems to present leadership in form of a web. He has learned from science that cells do not need a protein leader to create life. Neither does the brain need a protein leader to create a thought. Applying that scientific and personal view to a bigger context, it could be said that our world does not need a leader to exist. If David Zambrano applies it to his dance work he would like to make a choreography where dancers are moving spontaneously and constantly making choices, where no one leads and follows, but everyone leads and follows at the same time, making an interconnection with each other and the whole group, integrating the different cultural backgrounds in the doing. Creating a dance web choreography.

In 2003 David Zambranofs Pro Series workshop at Impultanz Festival/Wien, he discovered that applying the physical concept of spiraling into his work he could easier create a sense of a dance web composition, where people are constantly passing through, under, over and around each other with an ease.
With that thought in mind, he wants to physically research for the creation and developing of movement systems that dancers can use spontaneously on stage in order to create the dance web experience.

To achieve a deeper view of his quest, he has selected a group of 17 dancers with very different cultural and dance education, to work with him here in Amsterdam during an extended period of six weeks.
